Many people are unhappy with their nose’s size or shape, perhaps it is large or crooked or maybe you feel it just does not fit in with the rest of your facial features. Nose correction surgery is also often referred to as nose job surgery or Rhinoplasty surgery and can drastically alter your appearance. It involves a surgical procedure to alter the appearance of the nose. During surgery the cartilage and bones within the nose are reshaped to give a different look.
Nose job surgery is performed in an operating theatre and in most cases under general anaesthetic. Surgery usually lasts between one and two hours depending on the amount of reshaping to be carried out. In order to avoid visible scarring to the face the Surgeon will begin by making internal incisions to the nose and then carry out remodelling which may involve trimming or shaping cartilage and bone to create smooth shape.
After the surgery, the Surgeon will put in a nose plug and a plaster splint to keep the nose in place whilst it heals. The plug can be removed the following day, however the plaster splint will need to remain for a week. Rhinoplasty surgery usually involves an overnight stay at your clinic or hospital and you should be able to go home the following day.
After you have your plaster splint taken off you will not see the new shape of your nose immediately as the nose will be quite swollen for around three months. After the swelling reduces, you will be able to see how your newly shaped nose looks.
You will be able to return to work after ten days but it is essential that you follow the aftercare instructions discussed with your Surgeon and attend all follow up appointments. You should also avoid sunbathing and contact sports for a few months after your nose correction surgery.
As with any surgery, there is the small risk of complications with nose correction surgery. At the time of your consultation, the expert we refer you to will take you through the risks in detail so that you can take an informed decision.
They will not push you for surgery. They will give you all the time and guidance you need to take a decision. They will give you a comprehensive Rhinoplasty Patient Guide to take home with you. This will answer most of your queries and concerns. If you have any further questions, you can give them a call and they will provide their expert advice. You will love them for their honesty, integrity and professionalism.

Depending on the complexity of the procedure, the surgery normally takes about 90 minutes, not including time in recovery.
Yes, the results of nose correction are permanent.
We recommend that people take a two weeks off work following the procedure (more if your job is particularly physical). Strenuous activities, heavy lifting and intense exercise should be avoided for about 6 weeks after your surgery. Facial bruising may be visible for a few weeks after the procedure, you should take this into consideration when organizing time off work.
Our surgeons recommended that you do not travel for at least one week post surgery. Follow up appointments may be required after your surgery to check progress and recovery, so it is advised that you stay within travelling distance of our clinic.
We offer non-surgical nose correction that may be helpful to investigate prior embarking on this procedure.
